Saturday of the Sixth Week of Easter (2013)

Ephesians 4:32: Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Prayer ...
Heavenly Father, Lord God, there is no way we can adequately thank you for sacrificing so much to forgive us. So this day, we pledge to be more like you: to share more of your kindness and grace with those who have wronged us. Today, we ask you to bless all with your kindness and grace. By the power of Jesus. Amen.

23In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name. 24Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. 25 "I have said this to you in figures; the hour is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures but tell you plainly of the Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name; and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; 27 for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from the Father. 28 I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father.
Meditation on Today's Scripture:
No one would have dared to call God his Father before this! Because of what Jesus has done for us in offering his life for our salvation we now have a new relationship as the adopted children of God. Paul the Apostles says that when we cry, Abba! Father! It is the Spirit himself bearing observer with our spirit that we are children of God. We can boldly draw near God as our Father and ask him for the things we need. In love he bids us to draw near to his throne of grace and mercy. Do we approach the Father with confidence in his love and with eager faith in his promise to hear our prayers? Heavenly Father, your love knows no bounds and your mercies are new every day. Fill us with gratitude for your innumerable blessings and draw us near to your throne of grace and mercy. Give us confidence and boldness to pray that your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
