Friday of the Seventh Week of Easter - 2013

Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth and riches of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out.
Prayer ...
Heavenly Father, thank you for reawakening us each spring to the power of your supporting presence in the world, but even more in our life. Bless us today as we seek to put you first in all we do. In Infant Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Scripture: John 21:15-19
15When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." 16 A second time he said to him, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." 17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep. 18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you girded yourself and walked where you would; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish to go." 19 (This he said to show by what death he was to glorify God.) And after this he said to him, "Follow me."
Meditation on Today's Scripture:
The Lord Jesus calls each one of us, even in our fault, sin, and failings, to love him above all else. The Lord Jesus shows us that love is an individual choice and a gift freely given - it is the giving of oneself to an extra person for their sake. Selfless love is oriented wholly to the good of the other person for their own wellbeing and benefit. God so loved the world that he gave us his only-begotten Son who took on individual flesh for our sake and who died upon the cross for our salvation - to save us free from the power of sin so that we might receive plentiful life that lasts forever. Nothing but our own sinful pride and willfulness can keep us from the love of God. He loved us first and our love for him is an answer to his exceeding graciousness and compassion towards us. Do we allow God's love to change and transform our life? Loving Infant Jesus, inflame our heart with your love and remove from it whatever is unloving, unkind, unappreciative, ungrateful, and not in accord with your will.
