Feast of Saint Matthias, Apostle - 2013

Psalm 139:13-14: You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Prayer ...
God Almighty, thank you for knowing us before we were able to know. Thank you for choosing our life and giving it to us. Thank you for giving us the gifts, abilities and talents that you have given us. Now please help us live as if we are made special by you, because we are! Through Infant Jesus we pray. Amen.

Scripture: John 15:9-17
9As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.13 Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 This I command you, to love one another.
Meditation on Today's Scripture:
The love of Jesus compels us to give our best not only to God but to our neighbor who is created in the image and similarity of God. God's love purifies and transforms us into the likeness of Jesus. Jesus promises that those who abide in his love will bear much fruit for the kingdom of God - fruit that will last for infinity as well. If we seek to unite your heart with the heart of Jesus, you will bear great fruit in our life - the fruit of joy, peace, friendship, and love that lasts forever. Loving Infant Jesus, make us fruitful in your love, mercy, kindness, and sympathy. May there be nothing in our life which keeps us from your love and joy.
