Memorial of Saint Francis de Sales, Bishop and Doctor of the Church

Galatians 6:1: If someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.
Prayer ...
Heavenly Father, forgive our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us. But Father, also help us heart to be gripped by the gravity of sin's effects and to be stirred into action to help those whom it has trapped. Through Infant Jesus, who came to rescue us from our sin, we pray. Amen.

Scripture: Mark 3:7-12
7Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed; also from Judea 8and Jerusalem and Idume'a and from beyond the Jordan and from about Tyre and Sidon a great multitude, hearing all that he did, came to him. 9And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they should crush him; 10for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed upon him to touch him. 11And whenever the unclean spirits beheld him, they fell down before him and cried out, "You are the Son of God." 12And he strictly ordered them not to make him known.
Meditation on Today's Scripture:
Jesus offered freedom from domination to everyone who sought him out. Wherever Jesus went the people came to him since they had heard all the great things he had done. They were hungry for God and preferred healing from their afflictions. In faith they pressed upon Jesus to touch him. As they did so power came from Lord and they were healed. Even demons shivered in the presence of Jesus and acknowledged his true uniqueness: You are the Son of God. When we hear God's word and believe all that Jesus did, how do we respond? With doubt or with hopeful faith? With skepticism or with confident expectation? Ask the Lord to increase our faith in his saving power and grace. Loving Infant Jesus, you are the Son of God and the Savior of the world. Inflame our heart with a burning love for you and with an eager faith in your saving power. Set us free from all that hinders us from drawing closer to you.
