Prayer ...
Heavenly Father, give us a heart that is pure so that our words may be pure. Give us a heart that is kind so that our words may be kind. Give us a heart that is full of joy and encouragement so that we may share these joy with those you bring to our path and with whom we share conversation. In Infant Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel:
In today’s gospel Jesus' message of the kingdom of God is a declaration of good news that produces great joy and hope for folks who will listen; but it is also a warning of tragedy for those who reject to accept God's gracious offer. Why did the message of John the Baptist and the message of Jesus meet with confrontation and deaf ears? It was out of enviously and spiritual blindness that the scribes and Pharisees attributed John the Baptist's austerities to the devil and they credited Jesus' table fellowship as confirmation for messianic pretense. They succeeded in provoking God's plan for their lives because they had near to their hearts to the message of John the Baptist and now they close their ears to Jesus.
