Wednesday-Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time

Hebrews 10:30-31: We know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Prayer ...
Heavenly Father, we are both uncomfortable and reassured to know that you will bring justice to those who have aggressively abused the innocent, weak, helpless and disadvantaged. We hate to see anyone misplaced. However, we also hate when evil people harm those who are good and kind and godly. Give us the courage to stay between the evil of our world and those on whom it preys. Because of your son’s grace and victory over sin and death, we pray in Infant Jesus. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel:
When Jesus told about power and authority he did something unheard of. He wedded power and authority with love and humbleness. The world and the sinful flesh seek power for self-seeking gain. Jesus educates us to use it for the good of our neighbor. Why does Jesus tell the apostles to travel light with little or no condition? Poverty of spirit frees us from greediness and worries with possessions and makes ample room for God's provision. The Lord wants his disciples to be reliant on him and not on them. He wants to work in and throughout each of us for his glory. Are we ready to handle the power and ability which God wishes you to exercise on his behalf? The Lord assigns us with his gifts and talents. Are we eager to place ourselves at his service, to do whatever he bids us, and to witness his truth and saving power to whomever he sends us?
