Thursday-Twentieth Week in Ordinary Time

Romans 8:32:  He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all - how will he not also, along with him, give us all things?

  Prayer ...
Lord, we are overwhelmed at your sacrificial love offered to us in Jesus. Father, please use your Spirit to stir me to service in reply to your grace and have this Comforter build our assurance in your salvation and in your desire to give us your rich blessings. In Infant Jesus' glorious name we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (Matthew 22:1-14)
Today’s Gospel Jesus' speak parable contains two stories. The first has to do with the original guests requested to the marriage feast. The king had sent out invitations well in ahead to his subjects, so they would have enough and more time to prepare for coming to the feast. How abusive for the invited guests to then refuse when the time for rejoicing came. They made light of the King's appeal because they put their own interests over his. They not only offended the King but the heir to the throne too. The king's anger is justified because they honestly refused to give the king the respect he was due. Jesus directed this caution to the Jews of his day, both to convey how much God wanted them to distribute in the joy of his kingdom, but also to give a warning about the result of refusing his Son, Jesus.
