Tuesday Fifth Week of Easter

Colossians 4:5-6: Make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY:

Heavenly Father, please forgive us for the careless words we have uttered this day. We understand that these careless words are twice sins a sin once when we committed it and a sin a second time because we didn't see the chance to be redemptive and obliging with our speech. Open our eyes Lord so that we may see those people you have placed in our path to bless. Through the blessed name of Infant Jesus we pray.

Short reflection on Today's Gospel (John 14:27-31a)

The peace of Christ is more than the absence of trouble. It includes all which makes for our maximum good. The world's advance to peace is prevention of trouble and a refusal to face unlikable things. Jesus offers the peace which overcome our fears and anxieties. Nothing as we can take from the peace and joy of Jesus Christ. No sorrow or grief, no risk, no suffering can make it less. Jesus also speaks of his purpose and ultimate victory over the powers of evil in the world. In the eyes of the world the cross stood for disgrace, humiliation, and overwhelm. Jesus went to the cross knowing that it would lead to victory over the powers of sin and of Satan. Jesus knew that he would go back to his Father in glory. The cross brought glory to Jesus and to the Father and it is our way to glory too. In the Cross of Christ we discover true peace and understanding with God. Do we live in the peace of Jesus Christ?
