The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls)

Heavenly Father, Great and Holy Counselor, help us as we seek to know the best thing to do with our children to share your love and your truth with them. We want them to know and love you more perfectly than we do. Give us wisdom and courage to make wise decisions and the tenderness to implement them in our family's life. In Infant Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (John 6:37-40)
What is faith? And how do we grow in it? Faith is an completely free gift which God makes to us. It is the Holy Spirit who discloses who Jesus is. We can believe in Jesus Christ since he is himself God, the Word made flesh. Faith is a personal devotion to God and the free consent to the whole truth which God has revealed. Faith is active surrender to the One who created us in love and who maintain us by his grace and power. To obey in faith is to surrender freely to the word that has been heard, since its truth has been guaranteed by God, who is Truth itself. We can trust ourselves wholly to God and believe totally what he says. To live, grow, and continue in faith to the end we must nurture it with the word of God. Jesus made an unbelievable promise to his disciples and maintains which only God can make and set free: Anything sees and believes in Jesus, the Son of God, shall have eternal life and be resurrected! How can we experience Jesus? He is present in his word, in the breaking of the bread, and in the church, the body of Christ. Jesus discloses himself in many countless ways to those who look for him with eyes of faith. When we know the word of God in the bible Jesus speaks to us and reveals to us the mind and heart of the Father. When we come close to the table of the Lord, Jesus tender himself as spiritual food which creates the very life of God within us. He assures unbroken fellowship and liberty from the fear of being unoccupied or cut off from eternal life with God. And he offers us the hope of sharing in his rebirth. Is your hope and wish to see God face to face?
