Meditation on Today's Gospel: (Luke 6:39-42)
Can a blind man guide a blind man? If Christ has truly freed us from guilt and blame, then why are we do judgment and a serious spirit so out of control today, even among Christians? "Expecting the most excellent of other people" is necessary if we wish to produce in love. And sympathy in judgment is nothing less that a sanctified duty. How simple it is to misjudge and how hard it is to be impartial in judgment. Our judgment of added is usually "off the mark" since we can't see inside the next person, or we don't have right to use to all the facts, or we are persuaded by instinct and unreasoning response to people. The Lord knows our responsibility and he sees all, even the defects and sins of the heart which we cannot distinguish in ourselves. Like a tender father and a skillful doctor he tolerantly draws us to his seat of mercy and takes away the cancer of sin which dwells in our hearts. Do we trust in God's compassion and grace? Ask the Lord to flood our heart by his loving-kindness and compassion that we may only have room for assistance, forbearance, and compassion towards our neighbor.
