Friday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the day. Lord, Majestic King of the Ages, may your Kingdom come in all its richness and fullness and every knee shall bow to your Savior, and may you grant that it may come to pass in our generation. Through Infant Jesus we expectantly pray this. Amen.
  WORD OF THE DAY ...
Hebrews 9:28: Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (Matthew 19:3-12)
Jesus deals with the issue marriage life and the divorce by taking his hearers back to the beginning of creation and to God's plan for the human race. In the book Genesis, we see God's intention and perfect that two people who marry should become so indissolubly one that they are one flesh. That ideal is found in the indestructible union of Adam and Eve. They were made for each other and for no one else. They are the pattern and sign for all who were to come. Jesus makes clear that Moses permitted divorce as just concession in sight of a lost ideal. Jesus sets the high model of the married state before those who are eager to accept his commands. Jesus likewise sets the high ideal for those who freely give up marriage for the sake of the heaven. Both marriage and the single life are calls from God to live a sanctified life, that is to live as married couples or because singles who belong not to themselves except to God. Our lives are not our own, but they belong to God. He gives the grace and power to those who look for to follow in his way of holiness in their circumstances of life. Do we seek Christ and his grace for our day to day life?
