The heavenly treasure and the pearl of great price

Rom 15:5-6: May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, Great and Almighty God, Eternal power for all who call on your name, we say sorry and ask your forgiveness for everything we have done and every word we have spoken that have hurt others in our family and brought a wound to the unity of our Church. Please bless our efforts as we seek less of our will, seek to live for your glory, and seek to encourage others. In the name of Infant Jesus we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (Matthew 13:44-46)
Realize God's kingdom is like stumbling across concealed treasure or finding the one pearl of immense price. When we discover the kingdom of God we receive the most possible wealth - the Lord himself. Selling all that we have to find this incomparable treasure could mean numerous things - our friends, job, our "way of life", what we do by our free time. Treasure has a special link to the heart, the place of wish and longing, the place of will and focus. The thing we most set our heart on is our highest wealth. In this parable what does the wealth of the kingdom refer to? It certainly refers to the kingdom of God in all its features. But in a special way, the Lord himself is the treasure we seek. If the Almighty is your gold and your valuable silver, then you will enjoyment yourself in the Almighty. Is the Lord the treasure and delight of your heart? The pearl of huge price also tells us a similar lesson. Pearls in the ancient humanity came to represent the supremely valuable. Jesus commented that one should not shine pearls before swine. Why would a merchant put up for sale everything for a peerless pearl? No doubt because he was attracted to what he thought was the most treasure he could possess.

The righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father...
