This is eternal life, that they know the Father the only true God

Rom 10:9-10: If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Heavenly Father, your Son is our Lord. We love him and praise him for his saving sacrifice. We thank him for his conquest of the grave. We wonder at his sacrificial and triumphant grace. Jesus is Lord. We know it sounds sweet in your ears so we say it again, Jesus is my Lord. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Infant Jesus, we offer this thanks. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (John 17:1-11a)
Jesus praying for the disciples before the betrayal and crucifixion speaks of the Father bringing splendor to the Son through the great mystery of the manifestation and Cross of Christ. God the Heavenly Father gave each one of us his only Son for our redemption and release from slavery to sin and death. There is no better proof of God's love for each and every being on the face of the earth than the Cross of Jesus Christ. In the cross we observe a new way of love, a love that is unconditional, sacrificial and liberal beyond comprehension. Jesus tells his disciples that they can identify the only true God. Knowledge of God is not merely limited to knowing something about God, but we can know God personally. The core of Christianity, and what makes it different from other religions, is the knowledge of God as our Father. Jesus makes it probably for each of us to personally identify God as our Father. To see Jesus is to see what God is resembling. In Jesus we see the ideal love of God - a God who cares intensely and who yearns over men and women, loving them to the point of laying down his life for them upon the Cross. Jesus is the exposure of God - a God who loves us completely, unconditionally and completely.
