Meditation on Today's Gospel: (Matthew 8:18-22)
The Lord Jesus invites each one of us personally to follow him as our Lord. He requests us into a personal connection of love and friendship, trust and promise. The love of God frees us from attachments to additional things so we can provide ourselves liberally to God for his glory and for his kingdom. It was love that bound the Lord Jesus to lay down his life for us. And he calls us in love to offer our all for him. What can remain us from giving our all to God? Fear, self-concern, pre-occupation and attachment to additional things. Even religious things can obtain in the way of having God alone because our Treasure if we put them first. aloofness is a necessary step if we want to build the Lord our Treasure and Joy. It frees us to provide ourselves without reserve to the Lord and to his service. There is nothing better than we can do with our lives than to place them on the service of the Lord and Master of the universe. We cannot provide God in generosity. Jesus promises that those who are eager to part with what is most dear to them used for his sake “will be given a hundred times as much and will inherit everlasting life”. Is there anything investment for us back from giving us all to the Lord?
