Sanctified and consecrated in God's truth

1 Cor 15:20-22: Christ has indeed been raised, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

Heavenly Father, Almighty, Most Powerful God. Because of your grace and the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, we know we will see you face to face. Help us now, however, to live that resurrected life being more like Jesus today than any day ever before. In the name of our risen Lord we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (John 17:11b-19)
Jesus was sent into the world by his Father for a reason and that purpose was a task of love to free us from slavery to sin, Satan, fear, death, and despair. Jesus saw glory in the cross rather than disgrace. Obedience to his Father's will was his magnificence. Jesus kept his Father's word still when tempted to forgo the cross. Jesus did not rely on his own human wealth and strength to accomplish his Father's will. He believed in his Father to give him strength, bravery, and perseverance in the face of conflict, trials, and temptation. We also must take up our cross and follow the Lord Jesus anywhere he may call us. He will give us the power of the Holy Spirit to live as his disciples. A popular author once wrote "God has fashioned us, to do him some specific service; he has dedicated some work to us which he has not committed to another one. I have my assignment – I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for nothing. Therefore, I will trust him. Whatever, wherever I am. I cannot be thrown away." Do we trust in God and in his call and purpose for your life?
