Do you love Jesus more than these?

Jn 10:28: I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your steadfast and secure love. Thank you for the guarantee that our future rests in your hands. Thank you for holding us in your defensive grace. May we live today with self-assurance and joy knowing that no matter where we find ourselves, you are there to uphold and sustain us. For this grace, we thank you in Infant Jesus' name. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (John 21:15-19)
When Jesus inquired him "do you love me more than these?" Jesus may have pointed to the boats, nets and fishing. He may have confronted Peter to discard his work as a fisherman for the job of shepherding God's people. Jesus also might have pointed to the other disciples and to Peter's earlier boast: "Though they all drop away because of you, I will by no means fall away". Peter now makes no boast or judgment but modestly responds: "You know I love you." Why did Jesus question Peter’s love and loyalty three times in front of the other apostles? It has to have caused Peter pain and sorrow as he had openly denied Jesus three times. Now Peter, full of regret and humility, clearly stated that he loved his master and was eager to serve him whatever it may cost.
