Isaiah 25:1: O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.
  Let us Pray ...
Heavenly Father, you surprise us with new wonders and new things daily. Yet deep in our heart we know they are not new to you. Thank you for not making life boring or predictable so we might thirst after you, you who are forever fresh, new, exciting, and marvelous. In the name of our Savior, Infant Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (Matthew 7:21-27)
There is only one way in which a person’s genuineness can be proved, and that is by one’s live out. Fine words can by no means replace good deeds. Our nature is revealed in the choices we create, particularly when we must decide between what is true or false, and good and wickedness. Jesus prefaced his tale with a warning: We may trick others with our talking, but God cannot be misled. He sees the mind as it truly is – with its reasons, intentions, desires, and options. What type of foundation are you building your life on? When Jesus told the story of the builders he probable had the following proverb in mind: When the tempest has swept by, the evil are gone, but the righteous stand firm for ever. What’s the meaning of the story for us? The kind of base we build our lives upon will decide whether we can stay alive the storms that are sure to come. Builders more often than not lay their foundations and spend their money when the climate and soil conditions are at their most excellent. It takes forethought to know how a foundation will place up against unfavorable conditions. Building a house on a deluge plain, such as a dry river-bed, is a sure bet for tragedy! Is the Lord Jesus and his word the convinced foundation of your life?
