Out of the heart come evil thoughts

2 Thes 1:3: We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.
  Let us Pray ...
Heavenly Father, may your love so fill us that we can fully share love with those we meet each day. May this love grow and increase in us so that others may readily see its benefits and recognize that it is a direct response to the lavish love you have shared with us. Through the power of your Spirit, help us love increase! In Infant Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (Mark 7:14-23)
The Lord wants to set us free from the trouble of guilt and from the harsh force of sin in our personal lives. Jesus wants to purify our hearts and revamp our minds so we can love and act in every circumstance as he would love and take action. Lord is ready to transform and purify our hearts through the loveliness and help of the Holy Spirit who resides within us. Like a doctor who probes the wound before treating it, God through his Word and Spirit first brings offense into the light that we may distinguish it for what it truly is and call upon his mercy and loveliness for pardon and healing. The Spirit of truth is our Consoler and assistant. His power and grace enables us to decide what is good and to refuse what is evil. Do you believe in the power of God's love to cure, change, and change your heart and mind? Where does evil come from and can we get rid of it from our personal lives? Jesus deals with this issue in response to the spiritual leaders' concern with ritual ruining – making oneself unfit to offer suitable worship and sacrifice to God. The religious leaders were very worried with avoiding ritual defilement, some no hesitation out of deferential fear of God, and others because they wanted to be seen as alert Jews. Jesus points his listeners to the source of true corruption – evil desires which come from inside a person's inmost being. Sin does not just happen from outside forces. It first springs from the innermost alcove of our thoughts and intentions, from the undisclosed desires which only the individual mind and heart can visualize.
