  Let us Pray ...
Heavenly Father, you have blessed us with so many rich and wonderful gifts. We can never ever adequately express to you the thanks you deserve. One thing we want you to know, dear Father, is that we especially appreciate the way you have treated us with grace and not with justice or judgment. Give us the power to do the same with the people our life touches this day. In Infant Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (Mark 3:1-6)
Taking "our sabbath rest" is a way of stating honor to God for that entire he has done for us. Such "rest" though does not excuse us from our love for our neighbor. If we truly love the Lord over all else, then the love of God will spread out to love of neighbor as well. Do you respect the Lord in the way you rejoice Sunday, the Lord's Day and in the way you treat you neighbor? Christians rejoice Sunday as the Lord's Day, to remember God's work of salvation in Jesus Christ and the new work of creation he gifted through Christ's death and resurrection. They were overflowing with fury and disrespect for Jesus because they put their own thoughts of right and incorrect above God. They were attentive in their own legalism because they did not appreciate or see the purpose of God. Jesus shows their myth by pointing to God's purpose for the Sabbath: to do well and to save life rather than to do evil or to obliterate life. What is God's intention for the order, keep holy the Sabbath? The scribes and Pharisees wanted to catch Jesus in the take action of breaking the Sabbath ceremony so they might blame him of breaking God's law. In a few penetrating words Luke reports that Jesus knew their thoughts.
