Meditation on Today's Gospel: (Mark 16:15-18)
Jesus promised that he would be with them forever to the end of time. Jesus' final words to his apostles spot to his saving assignment and to their mission to be witnesses of his saving death and his magnificent resurrection and to announce the good news of deliverance to the entire world. Now as the glorified and risen Lord and redeemer, ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven, Jesus offered to send them the Holy Spirit who would smear them with power on the Feast of Pentecost, just as Jesus was anointed for his ministry at the River Jordan. This is the immense commission which the risen Christ gives to the whole church. All believers have been given a share in this job – to be messenger of the good news and representatives for Jesus Christ, the only redeemer of the world. When the Lord Jesus dead physically from the apostles, they were not left in grief or sorrow. Instead, they were filled with joy and with huge anticipation for the coming of the Holy Spirit. We have not been left alone in this duty, for the risen Lord works in and all the way through us by the power of his Holy Spirit. Today we observer a new Pentecost as the Lord decant his Holy Spirit upon his people to renovate and strengthen the body of Christ and to furnish it for efficient ministry and mission to every land and peoples. Do you witness to others the joy of the gospel and expectation of the resurrection?
