All wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of Jesus' mouth

Isaiah 53:5-6: He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
  Let us Pray ...
Heavenly Father, We thank you, we praise you for the day. God of peace, fill our soul with the wonder of your grace. Let us not forget the cost of your love. Stir in us the constant and abiding memory of your redemptive grace. Thank you. In Infant Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (Luke 4:14-22.)
God's power alone can save us from bareness and poverty of spirit, from perplexity and error, and from despair and the fear of obliteration. The gospel of deliverance is "good news" for us today. Do you know the joy and liberty of the gospel? What did Jesus come to do for us? He came to set us at no cost from the worst oppression possible – slavery to sin and the fear of death, and the everlasting obliteration of both body and soul. His proclamation of the completion of the Messianic prophecy of Isaiah brought speculate to his kin and townsfolk. Isaiah had prophesied that the Messiah would come in the authority of the Holy Spirit to bring freedom to those exploited by sin and evil. Jesus awakened their hope in the assurance of God. They, in turn, received his words positively and wondered what would become of "Joseph's son". Their hearts were starving for the word of life and they looked to Jesus with expectation and wonder. Do you look to Jesus with self-assurance and hope in the completion of all God's promises? How can we know and understand God's favor and goodness towards us? In Jesus we see the loveliness of God in action. His cordial words brought hope, joy, and favor to those who were ready to get him. Where Jesus did began his public ministry? In his own land of Galilee where he was reared from his childhood in Nazareth.
