These commandments to be upon your hearts

Deut 6:6-7: These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Thoughts on Today's Verse... (Mon, November 08, 2010)
Shall be in your heart - For where else can love be? If it is not in the heart, it not exists sure. And if these words be not in the heart - if they are not reputed, win, and received as a high and most wonderful privilege, what hope is there that this love shall ever reign in everyone's heart?
Here we begin each day with our Father. Every breath everyone breath should be a powerful reminder for each one of us, that our Heavenly Father has granted each one of us another day of life to serve God. Each heartbeat is God's drumbeat of love towards to us, reminding us that we are blessed with another minute to offer him our best. Our thanks and praises. This blessing is so easily forgotten. We best remember these truths when we teach them and show them and live them with and before our children. And that is our gratitude for them. But, let's not leave their learning these truths to our example alone. Let's find teachable moments to explain our faith, to praise our God, and to teach His truth.
  Let us Pray...
Heavenly Father, Gracious Sustainer, and Almighty God, thank you! Thank you for this breath we take and for the heartbeat that sustains our life. Make us aware as we travel and talk and rest and work that you are there and are worthy of our intentional best. Teach us talk about you and make us a instrument for you to show about you, who is love, this we make in the name of Infant Jesus, our gracious sacrifice we pray. Amen.

What's the driving force in your life? Jesus speaks of two forces at work in our lives – the power of temptation to sin and cause harm and the power of faith to overcome obstacles and difficulties that stand in the way of loving God and our neighbor. The Greek word for temptation (scandalon) is the same as the English word scandal.... read more...
