Lead me in the way everlasting

Psalm 139:23-24: Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Thoughts on Today's Verse... (Tue, November 09, 2010)
Try personally me - As a metal is tried or tested or proved that is put to a "test" to learn what it is. The test here is that which would result from the divine checking of one's heart. The idea here is, search me thoroughly; my heart, thoughts, examine not merely my outward conduct, but what we think about; what are our purposes; what passes through my mind, what occupies our imagination and our memory; what secures our affections and controls our will. God knows us. He knows us thoroughly. We cannot pretend we are something we are not with Him. He knows us - our hearts and outer appearance, through and through. This should liberate us to share a remarkable degree of intimacy with him, but most of time and most of us run from such a close relationship with loving God. If our desire, to be with Him, however, is to become more like him, the only way to be transformed is by inviting him in to look at our hearts, our motivations, and our desires.
  Let us Pray...
Heavenly Father, we know you are the one who "look for our hearts and minds." Yet because of the grace you demonstrated in Jesus, we are confident that you love us. Our heart is sorry for the sin we have committed, but we are really trying to love you and serve you in honor and with purity. Please fill us with your holy Spirit to enable us to become more like Jesus. In the name of your holy Son and our beloved Infant Jesus we pray. Amen.
