He who covers over an offense promotes love

Proverbs 17:9: He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

This is just a little harmless gossip. Gospel of the day reminds us that gossip is neither little or harmless. Its consequences are huge and it may damage horribly. Instead, it is much better to be a peacemaker and an offense mender. We are called for the peace makers. Those who set their hearts upon money and worldly pleasures will do any thing for money. And they will not hesitate to any evil act. What influence should the gifts of God have on our hearts! The way to preserve peace is to make the best of every thing, not to notice what has been said or done against ourselves. Let us watch over our own passions, and avoid the company of furious men. To render evil for good is devilish. He that does so, brings a curse upon his family and society.
  Let us Pray...
Heavenly Father, we confess that we are often more a peace lover than a peacemaker. Give us the character not to repeat gossip and instead have the wisdom and strength to be an offense mender. Make us an instrument of your Peace. Through the Prince of Peace we pray. Amen.
