Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you

Matthew 5:43-45: You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

It is always good to talk about the privileges of being a child of God, and forgiveness, salvation, a future in heaven with Jesus, the gift of the Holy Spirit today people experience, and ultimate victory when Jesus comes for judgement. One of the greatest privileges we get, however, this is one of the opportunity to act toward those who dislike and hate, in a way that reflects the character of God himself. Anyone can return hate for hate, but that can takes a "child of God" to return a blessing for his or her enemies.
The Jewish teachers understood that only those who were of their own their country, nation, or religion, where they were pleased to look upon as their friends. Outside this frame there is no friends. Jesus teaches that we must do all our real kindness we can to all, especially to their souls. We must pray for everyone. While many will render good for good, we must render good for evil that is what Jesus taught us, and this will speak a noble principle. Everyone great their own brethren, and embrace and wish those of their own party, and way, and opinion, but we must not so confine our respect. It is the duty of Christians love the enemy not the one who friend with you as Jesus teaches us. Surely more is to be expected from the followers of Jesus than from others, surely more will be found in Christians (follow Jesus teachings) than in others. Let us pray to God to enable us to prove ourselves his follower.
  Let us Pray...
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us when we were still an enemy to you sometimes. Thank you very much for risking the death of your Son to offer us the chance to accept or reject your love. As you have promised to us, please pour your love into our heart so that we may love even our enemies as you have loved us. In the name of your ultimate Gift of love, Infant Jesus, we pray. Amen.
