I love you, O LORD, my strength

Psalm 18:1: I love you, O LORD, my strength.

For everyone this should the first word, I will love YOU, O Lord, my strength... Those that truly love God, may triumph in Him as their Rock and Refuge in distress, and may with confidence call upon him for help. It is good for us always to observe all circumstances of a mercy which magnify the power of God and his goodness to us in it. David was honest and praying man, and for him God was found a prayer-hearing God. If we pray as David did, we shall find as he did. As little appeared of man, but much of God, in these deliverances. This is not possible to apply to the history of the son of Jesse those awful, the majestic, and stupendous words where are used through these description of the Divine manifestation. Every part of solemn a scene of terrors tells us, a greater than David is here about him. God will not only deliver his people out of their troubles in due time, but he will bear all them up under their troubles in the mean time. Can we meditate without directing one thought to Gethsemane and Calvary? And can we forget that it was in the hour of Christ's deepest calamity, when Judas betrayed, when Jesus friends forsook, when the multitude derided Jesus, and the smiles of his Father's love were withheld, that the powers of darkness prevented him? The sorrows of death surrounded him, in his distress he prayed, God made the earth to shake and tremble, and the rocks to cleave, and brought him out, in his resurrection, because he delighted in Him and in His undertaking.
  Let us Pray...
Heavenly Father, we love you. we love you because you are more than worthy of our love. We love you because you have first loved us. We love you because you sent your son to be our big Brother and pay the price for our adoption into your family. We love you because of your faithfulness. We love you because you have permitted us in your grace to love you. In the name of Infant Jesus we thank you. Amen.
